I decided to go with the Fan-Tastic Vent 2250. I like this model because it is low profile (stealth), has plenty of options without having a remote or rain sensor. I am not a huge fan of having a remote to lose when I can just reach up and turn on the fan. I used this Mounting Plate from Impact Products to ensure a nice flat surface over the roof ribs to mount the fan.
Not wanting to have a propane system in the van turned me towards diesel heaters. I chose the Espar D2 heater because of its positive track record. I placed the unit underneath the passenger seat and installed a slotted panel to increase airflow. Originally, I did not buy the altitude Sensor, but I bought it after realizing I want to camp at high elevation.
If you Plan to camp in high altitude make sure you buy Espar D2 high Altitude Kit for your Espar D2
The van was purchased with no windows in the cargo area, so one of the first tasks was to install T-vent windows. I chose to install driver and passenger t-vent windows by CRL. Cutting giant holes in a brand-new van can be a little stressful but after some research I came to realize it is only sheet metal. Just make sure to measure twice and cut once if you take on this task.

There are many options when it comes to insulation. I ultimately decided to use 3M Thinsulate (TM) SM600L because it is light, non toxic, does not absorb moisture and is easy to install. If you decide to use this product do yourself a favor and buy these Fiskars Scissors, I found them to be the best to cut the product.
I decided to use Reflectix last minute in the build. I am not totally convinced that it really makes a difference but many people claim it works as a vapor barrier and adds to overall R-factor. I ultimately decided to use it because it is very inexpensive and it would be nearly impossible to go back and put it in later.
I chose to build my cabinets and couch / bed out of 80/20 aluminum extrusions due to its strength, weight and ease of use.
1503-LS, 15 Series Tri-Slot Has 1 Smooth side, which I used for applications that were exposed.
1502-LS, 15 Series Bi-Slot Has 2 Smooth sides, which I used for applications that were exposed.
The 80 20 Inc., 4119, 10 Series, 2-Hole Inside Corner Bracket is used to connect 80/20 extrusions together. I made my own from angle aluminum, if I had to do it over again I would have bought these to save a massive amount of time.
The 80 20 Inc, 3320, 15 Series, Bolt Assembly work great to bolt extrusions together.
These Drop In T-Nuts are great for last minute attachments to 80/20 extrusions, they do not need to be inserted from the end of the extrusion.
80 20 Inc, 14165, 15 & 40 Series, 1/4 Turn Drop-in T-Nuts are great for attaching drawer slides and other accessories to 80/20 aluminum extrusions.
CRL White Flat Large Snap Cap Screw Covers offer a clean way to hide mounting screws for the walls and ceiling.
3M 08609 Window-Weld Super Fast Urethane Black Cartridge was used to attach the fan vent adapter to the top of the van.
3M Hi-Strength 90 Spray Adhesive Low VOC worked great to attach Thinsulate Insulation to the interior of the Sprinter van.
I used Dicor 501LSW-1 Self-Leveling Lap Sealant to seal over the exterior lip of the Fan-Tastic Vent 2250. . Unfortunately it doesn't look real pretty but it really produces a impenetrable weatherproof barrier.
Dicor Butyl Seal Tape was used between the vent adapter plate and the vent lip itself.
SIKA Sikaflex Adhesive was used to seal up the gland for the solar conductors.
I bought this shelf by RB Components. I really like the shelf even though I hit my head on it daily, the amount of storage it adds is invaluable. If I had to do it over again, I probably would have built my own because it is highly expensive for what it is.
This product is a great alternative to more expensive brands to dampen panel rattles and road noise.
Heatshield Products Hot Rod Sleeve Roll was used to shield heat from lines and wires that come into proximity of the exhaust system.
This adapter matches the contour of the OEM roof so a standard RV style vent mounts to a flat surface. Prevents distorting the roof sheet metal or vent flange and can be used as an aid for locating the fan. They are CNC machined out of UV and fire resistant expanded PVC. The fan mounts to the outside adapter. Fan adapters work with the Maxxair Deluxe series and the Fan-tastic Vent fans.
